The National Weather Service (NWS) Flagstaff office issued a Flood Warning for Wet Beaver Creek in Yavapai County, Arizona, active until 7:00 AM MST on Friday, October 23 [1], [2]. The warning was issued at 11:58 PM MST on Thursday, October 22 [1], [2]. It indicates ongoing flooding caused by excessive rainfall along the creek [1].

River gauges along Wet Beaver Creek reported elevated flows, and water levels are expected to gradually decrease through the overnight hours into early Friday morning [1]. The NWS included Dry Beaver Creek, Walker Creek, Rarick Canyon, Verde River, and Beaver Creek in this warning [1].

Areas expected to experience flooding include Lake Montezuma, Montezuma Castle National Monument, Montezuma Well, and Lawrence Crossing [1]. The NWS cautions that deadly flooding is occurring over low-water crossings, posing a significant threat to property or life in Yavapai County [1], [2].

This Flood Warning follows earlier weather alerts for Yavapai County [3], [4], [5]. A Flood Watch was in effect through Thursday evening, October 22 [3], [4]. The NWS in Flagstaff issued this broader alert due to expected heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across northern and central Arizona, which could bring flash flooding [3].

The Flood Watch was initially issued on Wednesday, October 21, and was scheduled through Thursday evening for all of northern and central Arizona [3], [5]. It indicated that flash flooding was possible, particularly in creeks, normally dry washes, swimming holes, and recently burned areas [5]. Yavapai County Emergency Management urged residents to stay alert, avoid flooded roadways, and monitor NWS updates, as conditions could bring flash flooding, hail, and damaging winds [4].
