President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Dalton, Georgia, on October 16, 2026, to support Republican candidates Mike Collins for the U.S. Senate and Rick Jackson for Governor, reiterating his claims of widespread election fraud in the state [1][3][28].

This event took place in Georgia, a critical battleground state, with both parties actively campaigning for influence ahead of upcoming elections [1]. The rally brought attention to persistent divisions over election integrity and economic policy, which are central issues for voters [1][3].

## What the records show
On Friday, October 16, 2026, President Donald Trump held a midterm campaign rally at Dalton Municipal Airport in Dalton, Georgia [1][28]. The stated purpose of the rally was to increase Republican enthusiasm and to support Senate candidate Mike Collins and gubernatorial nominee Rick Jackson [1]. During his speech, President Trump focused on his assertions that the 2020 election in Georgia was fraudulent and that Senator Jon Ossoff's 2021 victory was "illegitimate" [3]. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle described President Trump as "the unequivocal leader, best messenger, and unmatched motivator for the Republican Party" [1]. Senator Jon Ossoff responded by suggesting that President Trump's presence would remind Georgians of policies he and Mike Collins have supported, which Ossoff claims have increased the cost of groceries, fuel, and healthcare [1].

## The timeline
President Trump's rally occurred on October 16, 2026 [1][28]. The event took place in Dalton, which is a population center in conservative northwest Georgia [1]. Local officials planned road closures near Dalton Municipal Airport for the event, from approximately noon to 5 p.m. Eastern time [28].

## What changed and for whom
The rally drew national attention to Georgia's political contests ahead of the midterm elections [1]. For Republican candidates Mike Collins and Rick Jackson, the event aimed to energize their voter base in a key state [1]. Senator Jon Ossoff used the occasion to connect his opponents to policies he claims have negatively impacted the daily expenses of Georgians [1]. The event also reinforced President Trump's continued focus on past election results in Georgia [3].

## What the subject has said publicly
President Trump publicly asserted at the rally that he won the 2020 election in Georgia and that Senator Jon Ossoff's 2021 victory was "rigged" [3]. Senator Ossoff publicly stated he was "surprised Georgia Republicans want the president here," adding that Trump's visit would remind Georgians of policies that have "driven the cost of groceries, fuel and healthcare to their all-time highs" [1]. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle publicly called President Trump the Republican Party's "unequivocal leader, best messenger, and unmatched motivator" [1].

## What we could not confirm
We could not confirm the exact number of attendees at the rally. We also could not confirm the specific policies Senator Ossoff referred to that he claims increased the cost of groceries, fuel, and healthcare.
