ABOUT PRIMARYBRIEF

Every claim has a paper trail.

PrimaryBrief follows public records to explain decisions and events that affect people, institutions and markets. Our coverage spans federal accountability, state and local government, global events with a U.S. connection, markets and law, and public health and safety.

Evidence before assertion

Our articles link to the records behind the reporting. Numbered citations let you inspect source excerpts and visit the original documents. A filing, notice or allegation is not the same as a proven finding; our reporting should make that distinction clear.

How our newsroom works

Automated tools monitor selected public sources. AI assists with research and drafting, and a separate verification step checks drafts against their evidence. These tools can make mistakes. Publication requires a human editor's approval; an automated alert is not automatically a published story.

Limits and corrections

Our source coverage is selective, not exhaustive. Records can change, and a breaking report may leave questions unresolved. We aim to distinguish what the evidence establishes from what remains unknown.

If you find an error, send a correction request with the article link, the disputed statement and supporting primary records. We review requests without promising a particular outcome or response time.
