YOUR CHOICES
Privacy policy
Optional analytics are off until you allow them using the privacy controls at the bottom of the page. You can reject or revoke your choice at any time. Your choice is stored in this browser so we can remember it. A choice closes after selection. Use the Privacy settings button at the bottom of the page to reopen the controls and change or revoke it.
Analytics
If enabled by the newsroom and allowed by you, Google Analytics 4 (GA4) receives page views and limited events for sponsor-message impressions and clicks. We send a canonical PrimaryBrief origin plus the page path, without query strings or fragments, and generic placement category details only. We do not add names, email addresses, account identifiers, or other identifying details to these events. Google may process request information such as a device or network address when providing its service; see Google’s privacy documentation for its handling and retention.
Direct sponsorships, not ad networks
Named site sponsors may support our work through clearly labelled, text-only messages. We do not load AdSense or other ad-network scripts, tracking pixels or personalized ads, even if an older browser preference allowed advertising. Advertising storage and personalization signals remain denied. Sponsor messages do not require analytics consent to display, and sponsor links go directly to the destination without a site click-tracking redirect. External sites have their own privacy practices.
Revoking analytics stops our analytics integration but cannot erase information already held by Google or remove third-party cookies already stored in your browser. Use your browser settings and Google's privacy controls to manage those separately. Read our funding and editorial independence standards.
Reader sign-in
When reader sign-in is enabled, Google authenticates your account and the server verifies your identity. Your verified email address and Google account identifier are held in an encrypted, essential, HTTP-only reader-session cookie for up to one hour. Google access tokens are not stored in that cookie or sent to the browser by PrimaryBrief. Signing in does not grant access to the staff Studio, paid features or a newsletter subscription. Sign out to remove the session from this browser. Google's privacy policy applies to its sign-in service; optional analytics are not required to sign in.
Contact messages and newsletter
When you submit our contact form, we store your name, email address, subject and message in the private newsroom inbox for review. We use those details to review your request and potentially respond; submitting a message does not subscribe you to marketing. The inbox is restricted to Studio administrators. Messages older than 90 days are removed when the inbox is opened or a new submission is processed; database backups may retain copies until their configured expiry. Administrators can delete messages sooner. To request access or deletion, use the contact form and identify your earlier submission without sending additional sensitive information.
The contact service uses submission limits and an empty-field spam check. Request infrastructure may retain operational logs, but we do not intentionally log contact message contents or email addresses. This form is not designed for confidential or highly sensitive information.
Newsletter signup is unavailable until a delivery provider is connected. We do not collect newsletter email addresses through the contact form. If a newsletter signup link becomes available, review the provider's privacy information and confirmation/unsubscribe process before subscribing.
Editorial Studio
The editorial Studio does not load these analytics or advertising integrations and does not track Studio activity through GA4.
Manage your choice
Use Privacy settings to allow, reject, or revoke optional analytics. You can also clear stored choices through your browser's site-data settings. Essential site functionality and direct sponsorship messages do not depend on allowing analytics.
